Dr. Hackett has given hundreds of lectures locally, nationally and internationally. He has given presentations in China four times, India twice, Nepal, Pakistan, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru many times, Bolivia, Australia, United Kingdom and many other European Union countries, Japan, Kenya and Tanzania. He has chaired the World Congress of High Altitude Medicine and Physiology three times, chaired the World Congress of Wilderness Medicine twice, and co-chaired the International Hypoxia Symposium in Alberta, Canada, six times.

Dozens of medical students and residents, starting with the Himalayan Rescue Association in Nepal in 1974; in the laboratory on Denali from 1981 to 1989; at St Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction from 1995 to 2000; at the Telluride Medical Center from 2001 to present, and at the Institute for Altitude Medicine presently. Many of these students and resident have been from University of Colorado, Denver Health, and Swedish Hospital. In addition, Dr Hackett is presently mentoring a fellow in High Altitude Medicine.
